Sonny Moore, better known as Skrillex, is one of the most influential DJs of our generation: the first hard-hitting and mass-accepted dubstep DJ outside of the EDM community. He was the first commercial DJ to be nominated for 5 Grammys in 2012 and the first to powerfully break through the barrier between underground and mainstream. From musical beginnings as the lead singer in the post-hardcore band From First to Last, Moore gained notoriety at a young age. He joined the band and put out the first album at the age of 16. After discontinuing production with From First to Last, Moore began to tour as a solo act and produced and did vocals for Bring Me the Horizon among other side-projects. He began to DJ and produce tracks electronically in Los Angeles and began to release music under the stage name, Skrillex, in 2010. By 2011, he was playing stadium tours and boasting residencies at world-renowned nightclubs, and by 2012 he was nominated for Grammys. He befriended fellow big-time producer, Deadmau5, who took Moore on almost as a protégé. Skrillex opened a tour for Deadmau5 in 2012 before going on his own the next year. The producer known for his groundbreaking music and quirky haircut is currently still working on new music for his solo career while touring nightclubs across the country.
