In the legion of modern electronic music producers, lies a small group of artists who have yet to fully understand the capabilities of their hormones, tapping into the small niche of the musical realm where they understand and create sounds that are gratifying and enchanting. Amidst this crowd is Hugo Leclercq, known by his stage name Madeon. He is a young producer, DJ, and record label owner from Nantes, France. How young is he? Let's just say he's not even old enough to attend the nightclubs he performs at. Born in 1994, Leclercq started composing music at 11 years old, adopting a nu-disco style under the name "Madeon" in 2010. In the fall of that same year, he established his name into the music scene with his award-winning remix of "The Island" by Pendulum. At the tender age of 16 years old, he was praised by the likes of Skillex, Rob Swire, Deadmau5, and Pete Tong. Madeon became an overnight sensation and cemented his worldwide presence as a DJ when he released a YouTube video of a beautifully crafted 39-song mashup he assembled together impromptu called "Pop Culture." In the viral video, he uses a Novation Launchpad and FL Studio, his current weapons of choice. When asked who his greatest influences are Leclercq cited legendary groups such as The Beatles and Daft Punk. Today, he is known for his famous remixes of "Raise Your Weapon" by Deadmau5, and "The Night Out" by Martin Solveig. Madeon has also released many of his own nu-disco tracks like "Shuriken" and "Icarus" under his record label, Popcultur. Madeon has gained a respectable status amongst his devoted fans as well as the veterans of the production industry. His melodic pop and euphoric sounds have defined the quintessence of Electronic Dance Music. Madeon may be a youngin' but this upcoming DJ is headed for the stars.
