Above & Beyond first came into my radar around 2008 when I heard their track, “On A Good Day.” Since then, I’ve been hooked. I have become a devoted fan, listening to nearly every track they made, trying to catch as many shows as I could in Vegas, and even driving all the way to LA on a whim to attend their Group Therapy World Tour at the Hollywood Palladium. I am one of many.
The British trance trio, consisting of members Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Siljamäki, is known for their cult-like following. In 2004, Above & Beyond started their Trance Around The World (TATW) radio show that reached an impressive 30 million listeners in 35 countries. Although the group started out their career opening up for renowned trance DJs like Tiesto and Ferry Corsten, they are now the headlining acts of every show and festival…as they should be. If you’ve never been to an Above & Beyond show you’re missing out.
Having been to at least 8 shows (4+ at Marquee LV, daytime dancing at Tao Beach, raving at EDC, and roadtripping to the Hollywood Palladium), I can honestly report that every show has been an experience of its own. Although they are great to listen to anywhere, hearing their euphoric tracks like, “Home,” “Breaking Ties,” “Lonely Girl,” “Air For Life, ” “Sun & Moon,” and “Thing Called Love,” just sound a bit better coming from a massive sound system dancing under confetti shot at you from canons, moving in a sea of thousands of other universally connected Above & Beyond Believers. Trust me, you will never be bored at an Above & Beyond show. If you don’t enjoy the music, at least stay for their epic productions: giant trampolines, monstrous visual projections, crowd surfing, and sometimes, even hot air balloons. The talented trinity lives up to their name as they truly go Above & Beyond for every performance.
As Above & Beyond continues with their non-stop global Group Therapy tour, be sure to check them out for their new residency at the Wynn Las Vegas. “Las Vegas is now one of the most important and fast-growing dance music destinations on the planet,” explains Jono. “For people in North America, Las Vegas is now as important as Ibiza is for Europeans. Wynn is the best resort on the strip and is the perfect home for our Group Therapy show.”
